WHERE WE STAND

NATIONAL AND STATE SECURITY

"It has become increasingly clear that conservatives in Tennessee are looking for bold leadership that will not shrink from standing up and speaking up on the key issues facing our state."

"The terrorist threat from radical Islam not only impacts other countries or major cities in our own country — that threat is also targeted at our communities and our families in Tennessee, and I intend to make security a centerpiece of my campaign,"

“For too long, your communities have been put in harm’s way by liberal immigration policies that have brought unvetted refugees into our communities and made us unsafe. No more!"

“I am committed to pushing back against Washington, D.C. and demanding that anyone coming into our state from outside America be thoroughly vetted to make sure they want to be a part of our great nation and what it stands for."

TENTh AMENDMENT-STATE SOVEREIGNTY

“Be it the federal government mandating changes in order for states to receive federal funds or the federal government telling us how to regulate commerce contained completely within this state – enough is enough, Our founders fought too hard to ensure states’ sovereignty and I am sick and tired of activist federal officials and judges sticking their noses where they don’t belong.” (This is as regards the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act)

SECOND AMENDMENT

"Member of Tennessee Firearms Association and endorsed by the National Rifle Association, I have fought for Open and Constitutional Carry in Tennessee. The Federal Government should not be involved in placing restrictions on legal gun owners"

Senator Beavers passed the Tennessee Firearms Freedom Act  and will continue to push for Constitutional Carry.

GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY AND TAXES

"For too long, you have been overtaxed by billions of dollars while your taxes have been raised. No more! I was a part of the fight against state income taxes and we won! I am committed to rolling back these immoral taxes and restoring fiscal responsibility in our budget."

GAS TAX REPEAL...."If the Governor and legislative leadership had allowed for a full and fair discussion of road funding alternatives rather than cutting back room deals and strong arming the gas tax increase down taxpayers throats then Governor Haslam might be aware of the other alternatives available."
"We can repeal the tax increase and then fund our road construction by ending the diversion of roads funds to non-road funding; using the portion of the surplus that comes from sales tax for automobile related items to fund the road projects; and finally make sure we are spending on road projects that are actual priorities rather than political favors,”
“With a $2 BILLION SURPLUS the last year, and $148 million just last month, only politicians who are addicted to tax increases can’t see any other options."

Senator Beavers led the effort to kill the state income tax , and sponsored bills to cut sales tax, inheritance, etc.

MORE GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY

"I have worked to reform the Judiciary and especially the election of the state's Attorney General. Currently, the attorney general is twice removed from those he or she is supposed to represent – the people of Tennessee, We must have the respect for the citizens of this great state that they would be able to elect a great attorney general to uphold and defend our constitution.  Along with the vast majority of the rest of this nation, I feel that the citizens of this state ought to have a ‘say so’ in the highest legal office in Tennessee."

Senator Beavers passed a law to protect the privacy of Tennesseans by requiring a warrant for authorities to search your cell phone, as well as laws limiting the state from using drones to monitor citizens.

OBAMACARE

"I believe that Obamacare is unconstitutional and should be repealed by Congress"

FAMILY VALUES AND

SANCTITY OF LIFE

"I believe in religious freedom, traditional marriage and the sanctity of human life; life which begins at conception. As regards the institution of marriage,...The Constitution of these United States of America specifically enumerates the powers of the federal government, including the judiciary. The Tenth Amendment precisely states that, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
"As the regulation of marriage is not a federally enumerated power, no branch of the federal government has the constitutional authority to interfere with the institution."
